World's top Jumpers converge on Chantilly for round eight of the Global Champions Tour Just seven days out from the start of the world’s biggest sporting spectacle, Australia’s Jumping superstar and Olympic Games medal hopeful Edwina Tops-Alexander will head to Chantilly France to contest the eighth round of the Global Champions Tour.
This will be the final opportunity for the world’s top riders to fine-tune their preparations ahead of the commencement of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Edwina – the current Global Champions Tour series leader – and last year’s overall championship winner is also the 2011 reigning champion of the Chantilly CSI5* Grand Prix. The 38 year old has led the GCT leaderboard since winning the first show in Doha (QAT) in April and recently extended her lead over the field when she finished ninth at the most recent GCT event in Estoril (POR).
After a quick trip to London to pick-up her official team gear and tour the athlete’s village with Australian Jumping teammates – James Paterson-Robinson, Julia Hargreaves and Matt Williams – Edwina now heads to the historic French city with the intention of retaining the title which she won in 2011.
In addition to the $285,000€ ($335,000 AUD) prize money on offer, riders will be chasing valuable points so they can improve their positioning on the leader board.
Eurosport on channel 511 on Foxtel and Austar will broadcast the Chantilly CSI5* Grand Prix on Sunday 22 July at 2:30pm AEST. Live streaming of the event is also available on the Global Champions Tour website http://www.globalchampionstour.com/gct-live/
